Breakfast at Banners

This weekend, we decided to throw caution to the wind and brave the arctic conditions of North London. All in the name of Breakfast!

Banners is a vibrant little establishment in Crouch End where you can get everything from Bubble & Squeak to Jamaican Jerk chicken. It opened in 1992 and has since become a shrine to hungry Londoners.

It's really quirky and there's a great vibe that makes you feel like you should cancel any plans so that you can stay for the day, eating until you burst and making place mats for the tables like this little guy.

Luckily we managed to nab the last two seats in the house on Sunday morning. We sat and promptly ordered two Special Papaya and Banana smoothies, which made me feel quite like I should be sitting on a beach somewhere contemplating a dip in the ocean. Then my rumbling tummy reminded me that I was actually waiting to have breakfast.

So we ordered. Two Meat Fry Up's. Sinful beyond words but very, very delicious.

The best part was definitely the hash browns, truly scrumptious. Unfortunately they were hiding underneath the eggs in this picture. I'm really pleased that I eventually found them.

If you're fortunate enough to stumble upon a spare table, I believe Banners will make your day! If you'd rather not live on the edge, you can guarantee yourself your very own plate of heaven here.

Spring Into Action

After much umming and aahing about whether to blog or not to blog, I decided to stop procrastinating and start typing. I've been obsessed for quite some time now with reading other people's blogs and take great pleasure from falling into somebody else's world for an hour or two. Ok... or three. I was a serial diary starter growing up. Every Christmas I would unwrap yet another sparkly journal, only for it to end up full of flowers and suns that I'd scribbled in neon coloured gel pens.

So rather than waste any more paper, here I am making up for lost time. What better time to start than in the first, albeit freezing week of Spring! I hope you like it X
